Uzbekistan Visa Guide 2026

Uzbekistan has one of the most open visa policies in Central Asia. Citizens of 90+ countries can enter visa-free for up to 30 days, and most others qualify for a fast online e-Visa.

Who can visit Uzbekistan visa-free?

United States citizens became visa-free on 1 January 2026 and can now stay 30 days without a visa. Passport holders from the EU, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the GCC states, Israel, Turkey, and most CIS countries can also enter Uzbekistan without a visa for stays of up to 30 days for tourism. Always confirm your nationality's current allowance at e-visa.gov.uz before you fly.

Visa-free countries (30 days) — quick list

These nationalities can enter Uzbekistan for tourism without any visa and stay up to 30 days:

  • North America: United States (since 1 January 2026), Canada
  • European Union: all 27 member states, including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Netherlands, Sweden, Czechia, Hungary, Greece, Portugal, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Denmark, Ireland, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Cyprus
  • Rest of Europe: United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania, Moldova, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Liechtenstein
  • Asia-Pacific: Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Mongolia, Brunei, Australia, New Zealand

  • CIS and neighbours: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine (most CIS passports get 60 days or more)

Which nationalities still need an e-Visa?

If your passport is not on the visa-free list, you almost certainly qualify for the online e-Visa — there is no need to visit an embassy. The most common e-Visa nationalities are:

  • China (mainland) — e-Visa required for independent tourists
  • India — e-Visa required
  • Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal — e-Visa required
  • Philippines — e-Visa required
  • Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia — e-Visa required
  • Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa and most African passports — e-Visa required
  • Iraq, Iran, Syria, Afghanistan and Yemen — e-Visa with additional checks; apply early

Check your exact nationality on the official government portal e-visa.gov.uz — it shows in one step whether you are visa-free or need an e-Visa, and it is the only source that is always current. Airline check-in staff use the same list.

How to apply for an e-Visa

If your country is not on the visa-free list, apply online at e-visa.gov.uz. The standard e-Visa costs USD 20, is valid for 90 days, and allows a stay of up to 30 days. Processing usually takes 2–3 business days.

  • Fill in the application form at e-visa.gov.uz
  • Upload a passport scan and passport-style photo
  • Pay the USD 20 fee by card
  • Receive the e-Visa PDF by email — print or save on your phone

Passport requirements

Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months after your planned exit date and have at least one blank page for the entry stamp.

Registration during your stay

Registration is digital in 2026 — there are no paper slips to keep. Hotels and official guesthouses register you automatically in the state system, and since July 2026 the National Tourism Platform can register you automatically when you use the official tourist e-SIM. If you stay in a private apartment, you or your host must register online at my.gov.uz within 3 days of arrival.
