Uzbekistan Transport Guide 2026

Getting around Uzbekistan is easy and cheap. High-speed Afrosiyob trains connect the main Silk Road cities, domestic flights cover long distances, and ride-hail apps handle city trips.

Afrosiyob high-speed trains

The Afrosiyob (up to 250 km/h) connects Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva. Tashkent to Samarkand takes ~2h 10m; Tashkent to Bukhara ~4h. Book at railway.uz or the official Uzbekistan Railways app 30–45 days in advance for the best prices.

Domestic flights

Uzbekistan Airways and Silk Avia fly Tashkent to Urgench (Khiva), Nukus, Termez and Bukhara. Flights start around $40 one-way.

Shared taxis and marshrutkas

Shared taxis leave when full from city taxi stands and are the fastest road option between smaller cities. Marshrutka minivans are cheaper but slower.
