Shopping in Uzbekistan: Bazaars & Souvenirs
Uzbekistan is a shopping paradise for hand-made textiles, ceramics, silk and spices — all still made in family workshops.
Best bazaars
- Chorsu Bazaar (Tashkent) — the classic domed market
- Siyob Bazaar (Samarkand) — fruit, nuts, non bread
- Trading domes of Bukhara — silk, jewelry, carpets
- Urgut Bazaar — Sunday-only, famous for suzani embroidery
What to buy
Suzani embroidery, silk ikat scarves, Rishtan ceramics, hand-knotted carpets, saffron, dried apricots, and Bukhara silver jewelry.
Bargaining
Bargaining is expected at bazaars — start at 50–60% of the asking price. Fixed-price shops in Registan gift stores don't bargain.
