Half the advice online about Uzbekistan still tells you to hoard little paper registration slips and show them when you leave. That advice is years out of date, and following it causes more problems than it solves. Here is the 2026 position.
Registration — propiska in the Soviet shorthand still used colloquially — is the single most misunderstood rule in Uzbek travel.
