Tashkent After Dark With Kids: Magic City, Tashkent City Park and the New Night Economy

· 8 min read · Tashkent

Brightly illuminated fairy-tale castle and fountains at an evening amusement park in Tashkent

Tashkent's evening life moved outdoors. Illuminated theme parks, fountain shows and food streets now fill the hours between 8pm and midnight — and they are among the most photographed places in the country.

Guidebooks still describe Tashkent as a place you pass through. That description is out of date. Since the late 2010s the capital has built a genuine night economy around large landscaped parks, and in summer the city effectively runs on an evening schedule because daytime heat makes sightseeing brutal.

Magic City

A themed entertainment park with fairy-tale architecture, fountains, an artificial lake, rides, restaurants and heavy evening illumination. Entry to the grounds is inexpensive or free at certain hours, while individual attractions and rides are ticketed separately. It is unapologetically theatrical — locals treat it as a family night out rather than a cultural site.

Practical tips

Tashkent City Park

The park at the base of the new Tashkent City business district is free, open and central. Fountain shows, lawns, cafés, and the skyline of new towers make it the easiest evening walk in the city, and it connects to the Islam Karimov and Alisher Navoi metro areas.

Anhor Park and the older options

Anhor Lokomotiv Park along the canal is the traditional local choice: rides, water, shaded walks and normal city prices. It is less polished than the new developments and considerably more ordinary in the best sense.

What to eat while you are there

Safety and etiquette

These parks are heavily patrolled and very safe, including for solo women. Standard crowd sense applies at fountain shows. Drone flying is restricted — do not launch one without permission. Dress is relaxed but not beachwear.

Honest verdict

None of this is ancient Silk Road. That is exactly why it matters: it shows what Uzbek families do for fun in 2026. Give Tashkent one evening for its parks and you will understand the modern country far better than another day of monuments.
