Samarkand
- Shah-i-Zinda main corridor — 8am, low sun raking the turquoise tiles.
- Registan from the Ulugh Beg minaret balcony — 5,000 UZS to the guard.
- Registan from the Hazrat Khizr Mosque terrace — sunset, free.
- Bibi-Khanym courtyard with the giant Quran stand — midday for clean shadows.
